10  You however have carefully followed my doctrine, lifestyle, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,

10  But thou didst follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,

10  But you have been a follower of my teaching, manner of life, purpose, faith, patience, charity, love, steadfastness,

11  persecutions, [and ]afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, in Iconium, at Lystra-what persecutions I endured. And out of them all YHWH delivered me.

11  persecutions, sufferings. What things befell me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.

11  Persecution and sorrows: you know the things which I endured at Antioch, and at IcoÆni- um, and at LysÆtra; how I was persecuted; and yet from all these my LORD delivered me.

12  Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

12  Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

12  And all those who willingly live the piety in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

13  But evil men and impostors shall advance worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

14  But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you learned them,

14  Yet truly, you should remain in those things which you have learned and which have been entrusted to you. For you know from whom you have learned them.

15  and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

15  And that from a babe thou hast known the sacred writings which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

15  And, from your infancy, you have known the Sacred Scriptures, which are able to instruct you toward salvation, through the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16  All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

16  Every scripture inspired of God [is] also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness.

16  All Scripture, having been divinely inspired, is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in justice,

17  that the man of God may be proficient, having been thoroughly equipped for every good work.

17  so that the man of God may be perfect, having been trained for every good work.

17  So that GodÆs people may become perfect, thoroughly perfected for every good work.

4:1  I charge you therefore before God and YHWH Jesus Christ, who is going to judge the living and the dead in accordance with His appearing and His kingdom

1  I testify before God, and before Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead through his return and his kingdom

1  I SOLEMNLY charge you before God, and our LORD Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead when his kingdom is come;

4:2  preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all patience and teaching.

2  that you should preach the word urgently, in season and out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke, with all patience and doctrine.

4:3  For there will be a time when they will not put up with sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, they will heap up for themselves teachers, tickling their ears,

3  For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts;

3  For there shall be a time when they will not endure sound doctrine, but instead, according to their own desires, they will gather to themselves teachers, with itching ears,

4:4  and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to myths.

4  and certainly, they will turn their hearing away from the truth, and they will be turned toward fables.

4:5  You however be watchful in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

5  But as for you, truly, be vigilant, laboring in all things. Do the work of an Evangelist, fulfilling your ministry. Show self-restraint.
